Goals for the day were simple, 1) take some photos, 2) make it an easy run, and 3) enjoy the miles.

My training has been subpar this year and i've had some painful sciatic nerve issues so i wanted to just take it easy and make sure i finished.  I started out at the back of pack (they announced that 5800 runners had crossed the starting grid before i took off).   Headed out  and slowly picked my way thru the crowds for the first couple of miles til it thinned out a bit, then settled into a comfortable pace.  By the time i hit 20 miles, i had already surpassed my longest run for the year (and that was back in May) so i was starting to run out of steam and was seriously considering walking it in.  I was very surprised to catch up with RAD at about 21 miles.  She had trained really well and i had hoped that she was already near the end by then.  Unfortunately a lot can happen on marathon day.  We'll get 'em next time, right?  We paced each other to the end from that point.  Running with Rachel really helped me out and gave me the motivation to keep going thru the final miles.

My 8th St. George Marathon is now in the books.  Now i just have to complete the Runner Series this next year, then I can bypass the lottery forever.  (unless the 10 year club goes away).

Nice to run for fun and take it easy every now and then Cal. I think this is the same time Kim and I ran last year and I quite enjoyed it (not sure if Kim enjoyed it quite as much!).

Have you decided which Runners Series races you're going to do?

Nice job in taking care of your higher calling of getting Rachel across the line. Get healthy.

Tom, i'm looking at the 5k in three weeks and then the Hurricane 1/2 in April. Are you doing the Series this year?

Chad, definitely getting healthy and in better shape is a priority. Looking forward to a much better running year!

Not doing the series this year Cal. Most likely sitting out SGM and doing TOU with Kim instead. I'm thinking of focusing on 1/2 marathons and shorter races for a change of pace then maybe go after a marathon PR in 2013.

Nice job of getting it done on sub-par training. Take care. Hope you can get that sciatic under control and enjoy some running.

Glad that you had a good time! The shirt was GREAT!

I have thought the same thing about the 10 year club---will it ever get too big that they do away with it for the rest of us? I have only run 4....

Picture taking goal totally explains the shirt. Looks like you are on Vaca!!!

You have NO earthly idea how much you saved me those last 4 miles - NO idea! Thanks for sticking it out with me, I really needed someone there just to have the company and reinforcement.

Yay for the running series and another crack at it next year! It's gotta be cooler, right?
